01 / Evaluation
Start with the job, not the greeting
An AI voice agent turns spoken requests into a configured conversation and, where permitted, a business action. A polished greeting establishes neither a useful result nor reliable operation. Start with one job your team understands: answering approved questions, qualifying an enquiry or collecting an appointment request.
Write down the intended audience, information the agent may use, details it needs to collect and the point where a person takes responsibility. An AI receptionist for a busy phone line and a voice agent on a website can have different consent, channel and escalation requirements even when they answer similar questions.
Voxae brings phone, website voice and chat, and WhatsApp conversations into configured workflows. The evaluation must use the channels, knowledge and tools intended for the deployment. Provider approval and connected-account requirements can affect availability.
Review checklist
- Define one useful outcome and the requests outside its scope.
- Identify the approved knowledge and its owner.
- Agree the receiving team and operating hours for exceptions.
02 / Evaluation
Choose representative conversations
Prepare cases from the actual operating process without including unnecessary personal or confidential information. Include an ordinary request, a vague answer, a correction, an interruption and a request the agent cannot satisfy. A visitor changing an appointment request should not be treated as the same case as a visitor agreeing to the first suggestion.
Test the conversation from the customer's perspective. Can they understand the question? Does the agent clarify missing information? Does it acknowledge a correction before moving on? Does the caller receive a useful next step when the request is unsupported? Record the observed result for each case rather than relying on one impressive demonstration.
Review checklist
- A routine answer from approved information.
- An ambiguous answer followed by clarification.
- An interruption, changed detail or explicit refusal.
- A request for a person and an unavailable receiving team.
- An unsupported request or failed external service.
03 / Evaluation
Separate a conversation from a completed action
Define success before testing. A useful answer, a structured enquiry and a confirmed booking are different outcomes. If an agent collects appointment details, the result is a request until the authoritative scheduling system accepts a booking. An agent's words alone do not establish that acceptance.
For connected workflows, review the outcome in the system responsible for it. Confirm what happens when a tool denies access, a time slot is unavailable or a write fails. The customer message should reflect the accepted result, and the team should be able to review unresolved work.
Review checklist
- Write the expected conversation outcome for each case.
- Verify consequential actions in the authoritative system.
- Check that failures do not produce a false success message.
04 / Evaluation
Evaluate voice, channels and human handoff together
A voice workflow includes more than its written instructions. Review the chosen voice, language policy, pacing and turn timing in the configuration you intend to use. Evaluate how the conversation behaves when a caller pauses, interrupts or changes their answer; the relevant behaviour should be observed in a real configured test.
Define when the agent offers human handoff, how a customer requests it and which information the receiving team needs. Include an exception path for an unavailable person. A handoff offered by an agent is distinct from a conversation accepted by a team member.
The website's scenario explorer and product films explain these concepts. The films are recorded or dramatized, and the scenario explorer does not place calls or perform business actions. Use them to prepare questions for an evaluation, then test the actual configuration before release.
05 / Evaluation
Make the release decision reviewable
Bring the representative cases, observed results, integration requirements and open issues into the release review. Agree who owns the approved knowledge, who reviews conversations and how an unsuitable outcome reaches a person. Keep the first deployment scope narrow enough for the team to understand and support.
A useful Voxae evaluation starts with a real conversation, permitted knowledge and the action your team wants to improve. Ash Systems can discuss the implementation scope and acceptance evidence; pricing, timing and release availability are confirmed for the engagement.
Review checklist
- Document accepted outcomes and unresolved cases.
- Confirm channel approvals and scoped tool permissions.
- Name the people responsible for review and exception handling.
- Agree the rollout and monitoring before publishing.
