OpenAI says Habitat, its online storage platform, handles more than 70 million requests per second, supports products used by more than 1 billion people each week across almost 40 regions, and serves more than 500 petabytes of data. The company says it evolved Habitat from a Python client library into a centralized service; a Rust service now handles 95% of production requests. The figures and performance claims are company-reported engineering metrics, not independently audited.
The disclosure makes the operational layer behind AI products unusually visible. Centralized routing, authorization, tenancy and storage decisions can determine reliability and product velocity just as much as a model’s capability—and become a major competitive system at global scale.

Salesforce announced an Enterprise AI Harness comprising six capabilities: trusted context, agency, action, governance, security and models. It also announced an AI Control Plane intended to register and manage agents and AI capabilities across Salesforce and third-party systems. Salesforce says many foundation technologies are already available, while a new unified experience is planned to start rolling out in early fiscal FY28; availability and pricing remain subject to change.
The announcement frames enterprise agents as an operating-model challenge, not only a model-selection exercise. Shared context, permissions, policies and observability need to follow an agent across tools and systems; the planned unified layer is therefore a roadmap signal rather than a general-availability claim.
